Since we are living in the age of social media and selfies, I recently became much more aware of the fact that my eyelashes do not like to behave! I've always been told that I had long eyelashes. I love to try different kinds of makeup, especially mascara, and I've probably tried them all! Since I have been taking a lot more pictures of myself over the past year, I noticed that my eyelashes do not like to hold a curl, and they are naturally straight! What good are long eyelashes if they don't curl?
So, I started using an eyelash curler every day. But, as soon as I would apply my mascara, no matter what kind or what technique I used, the curl would fall after a short period of time.
Then, I switched to only using waterproof mascara (and still using the eyelash curler). This definitely worked the best for my stubborn eyelashes, but then, I noticed that my eyelashes were looking thin! Ugh! Plus, longterm use of waterproof mascara is damaging to eyelashes!
I recently switched my skincare routine to using Rodan + Fields, and I figured that would be a good time to try their Lash Boost. Loved it - it definitely added length to my lashes (especially in a short period of time, so I would definitely recommend it if you want long, luscious lashes), but mine still look straight and thin, and I hated being a slave to my eyelash curler and waterproof mascara.
Recently, it was like the gods of instagram makeup took pity on my eyelashes, and I received the best comment from Wink Lash Studio in Wayne, PA! I commented on one of their glorious pictures of xtremelashes lash extensions that Dani had done, and they responded with the offer for me to come in as an exchange for promoting them! I saw that comment from them, when I was on a break at work, and was practically bouncing up and down in my chair. My male coworkers gave me a strange look, but are kind enough to allow me to tell them why I was so excited. (While I did receive this service for free, all of my opinions are my own!)
First, let me start with a "before" picture.
Here's one eye without any mascara and the other curled and wearing waterproof mascara:
Ok, so here's how it works:
First, I had to take off my mascara. The eyelashes need to be clean in order for the adhesive to work properly. Then, Dani asked me what kind of look I wanted with my new lashes. I am totally a lash girl - the longer and sky high the better. Because I already had "naturally" long lashes, we decided to work with that, and go for a slightly more dramatic look.
I lied down on a comfy massage style table, Dani had me close my eyes, she put eye pads underneath my eyes, and I got to relax on the comfy table for about an hour and a half, while Dani worked her magic! She said that a lot of clients actually use this opportunity to take a nap! I don't blame them, but I myself was too excited to nap!
She applied individual eyelash extensions to my individual eyelashes using tweezers, focusing on the lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle. Eyelashes grow and fall out naturally, so once the eyelash reaches the end of its cycle, the eyelash and the extension attached to it fall out.
The adhesive that they use at Wink is not damaging to your lashes, unlike the glue that they use at some nail salons, so if you decide to try someplace other than Wink (I don't know why you would want to, because Wink is amazing), make sure that you do your research!
And now, my after pic:
I love them!! No mascara, no curling, just amazing lashes!
I can't wait to wake up like this again tomorrow!
(When you are loving your new lashes so much, that you can't even wait until you get home to take a few selfies)
Thanks again Dani and Wink!
