Happy New Year!

Happy (almost) New Year!!

I hope that this year brings all of you lots of love, happiness, laughter, and good health to you and your loved ones.

But, before we get to 2017, I have to share with you some of my newest purchases from, Shop Sixty Five!

I apologize for the blur in this photo. My camera was not behaving, but I still loved this photo, so with some editing, I thought it still worked!

#girlboss(es) redefined 8 - Giovanna Biles

Happy Friday!! I hope you all had a wonderful week, and that you have fun plans for the weekend! To kick off your fun weekend, you can read about my friend, Giovanna! Giovanna is this week's Fabulous Female for my #girlboss(es) series! Giovanna is the wife of one of my oldest friends, Nathan (not to be confused with my photographer, Nate (Nater)). She is the mom to three absolutely precious little ones, who are just the cutest (quick - scroll down to her picture below, because it's without a doubt the cutest picture you will see all day!!)! Her kids are the perfect ages to play with my two nephews and my son, so it's really special to see that our lifelong friendship with their family is continuing with all of our children too!

As always, I hope you enjoy reading!

#girlboss(es) 17 - Lynne Kaspin

Happy Friday, and Merry (early) Christmas to those who celebrate! This week's Fabulous Female Friday features a good friend, Lynne Kaspin! I thought the timing of her post is absolutely appropriate, because out of everyone I know, Lynne loves snow the most, and what better day than just a couple of days after the official start to the winter season! I first met Lynne when I worked at Music and Arts in Marlton, which was 7 years ago now. Lynne is one of the piano teachers there, and her number of students was (and is) very impressive, to say the least!  Lynne's students range in ages, from precious little 4 year olds to adults, and they all adore her!

#girlboss(es) 16 - Linda LaRosa

Happy Friday! I hope that you're all staying nice and warm! This weather is perfect for cozying up with a soft, heavy blanket, making yourself a perfect cup of coffee, and doing some online shopping. I know that you may be all shopped out at this point, with Christmas being right around the corner, so spend some time looking for yourself instead! Need some motivation? Check out Shop Sixty Five's Instagram Page.  For those of you that come here often, you know how much I am IN LOVE with Shop Sixty Five in Rittenhouse. The owner of this glorious shop is Linda LaRosa - this week's #girlboss for Fabulous Female Friday! In the post that I wrote about Shop Sixty Five (click here), I talked about how wonderful Linda was, when I went to her store for the first time. Since then, she has continued to be supportive, and I continue to tell everyone I know about how amazing she and her store are! Enjoy reading about Linda, and check them out on Facebook and Instagram for updates and gorgeous clothes!

#girlboss(es) redefined 7 - Melissa Carangi

Happy Friday!! Today's Fabulous Female Friday showcases my cousin, Melissa Carangi! Melissa is free spirited, adventurous, and pretty bad ass. She has already created countless unique life experiences for herself by truly making her own path to happiness. Melissa is currently spending the next 8 months traveling all over the world working on a documentary. Like I said, this broad is bad ass. Enjoy!

An Easier Approach to the Holidays

Most of the time, when I go shopping with new clients, we go to the mall. I prefer the mall, because if my usual go to stores aren't meeting our needs, I like to have several back up plans without having to inconvenience the client by traveling to a new location. The more people that I have been working with, the more I realize that the mall can be a daunting place for a lot of people. Not to mention trying to find anything in one of the big department stores - smaller "stores" within a bigger store within a huge mall - that concept makes most people shut down and completely dread the experience. Add the chaos of the holidays to that, and the stress can go through the Christmas light decorated roof.

So, let me help you!

Are you free Friday, December 16th? Let's meet at the Cherry Hill Mall in Nordstrom at 5:30, and we'll do some group shopping!

(Ok... what's group shopping?) Great question!

It's super easy - a small group of us (let's say a minimum of 3 plus me), will go to Nordstrom together, and I can show you how to find exactly what you need to finish off your holiday shopping - whether it's putting together an outfit for yourself for your holiday dinner (or daytime festivities), getting a last minute gift or stocking stuffers, or  treating yourself or someone else to some of my current top favorites from Nordstrom! I will help you get all or any of that, and we'll be done by 7:00pm! We'll be in and out of the mall in an hour and a half, you'll have me as your guide, you'll get to hang out with some great company, and you will leave happy - how glorious is that?

The cost to attend is $35 per person - a total steal, since my hourly rate is $75! (Happy Holidays!) You can absolutely bring a friend, but leave the little ones at home, so you can enjoy yourself without having to worry about the kids.

Make sure that you sign up by Monday, December 12th (don't worry, that's not tomorrow, it's next Monday) - and you can do that by commenting on this post, text, email, Facebook comment or message, whatever is easiest - I will make sure you are on my list!

If you need more of a reason to go, you can also check out the inside of "Adventure to Santa" while we're there - it's pretty impressive!

Cute, right?

Anyway, I can't wait for all of us to go shopping together! As always, I promise it will be fun! Don't forget to sign up!

#girlboss(es) 15 - Jennifer Braverman

Happy Friday!! This week's post features Jen Braverman, who I met in college, at The College of New Jersey. While attending TCNJ, I participated in performances of "The Vagina Monologues". It was one of the most empowering experiences of my life, and if you have not seen a performance or read the stories, do so immediately! Do not let the title scare you away from it. The monologues are a collection of insights into different women's experiences from all over the world at different points in their lives. Some of them are really funny, others are more serious, some are both, and no matter what emotion they elicit, they're worth the read (for men and women, by the way). More importantly - back to Jen!! So, Jen was one of the directors my very first year performing in the monologues, and while she wasn't my director specifically, I could see the amount of respect she received by anyone who knew her. Even if you don't know Jen, once you hear about just a few of her accomplishments, you'll see why.

#girlboss(es) redefined 6 - Marianne

It's not just any Friday today - it's Black Friday! The timing of this week's Fabulous Female Friday could not have worked out better (since she is probably the person who I shop with the most frequently!) I know that this week's Fabulous Female Friday, Marianne has been mentioned in my blog quite a few times already, but I am thrilled that it's finally her turn to be one of my #girlbosses! Marianne and I first met when I started working as a teacher. Marianne, like Mandy is also a vocal teacher. When I stopped working at the middle school where I met Mandy, I transferred and began working with Marianne. Marianne and I shop together a lot. We're constantly sending each other pictures or links to different things that we're contemplating to add to our closet. I'm not quit sure when we started referring to Marianne as my assistant, but it kind of came naturally. I value her opinion, and I know she is always honest with me, in every aspect of our friendship. She's supportive and pushes when necessary.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, all!! I hope that you are enjoying the time with your loved ones, but if you're in need of a break (or just some quiet time), I'm glad that you found your way back here!

Since the style party, I have had a ton of questions about my wardrobe, where I like to shop, if those pieces are still available to purchase now, etc! So, as a favor to you, my wonderful readers! I put together this awesome collage - all of the pictures are clickable, so click away!! Some of these items in the collage are things that I currently own (including the lace peplum top I was wearing at the party - it comes in black too!), others are things that are similar (like that gorg leather jacket), and the rest are just good purchases! With Black Friday being tomorrow, and sales already going on today, I thought this might be fun inspiration for you or your loved ones for holiday shopping!

Enjoy! If you have any questions about any of the items, or if you have a favorite, make sure that you leave a comment! I'd love to hear your feedback!

Style Party Success...when are you scheduling yours?

My style party that I hosted at my house was this past Saturday, and another HUGE thank you to those who attended! Everyone had such a nice time together!

I started the party by getting everyone talking and sharing (that's the teacher in me - starting with an icebreaker!). After that, we began talking about different style concepts that can be applied to anyone - any body type, any budget!

#girlboss(es) redefined 5 - Liz Zadnik

Happy weekend, everyone!! It's Fabulous Female Friday, and I am featuring Liz, who is the sister of my very first, Fabulous Female Friday post, Patti Sullivan! I met Patti when we were seven years old, so I have known Liz since then too! Like the rest of Patti's family, Liz took me in as an additional family member.

Gift Certificates

I know it's only Tuesday, but I can't wait until Saturday!! Saturday is the date for my style party at my home, and I am so excited to see those of you who are attending! Just as a reminder, there will be plenty of food and drinks provided! All you have to bring is your $20 admission fee (or $10 if you're bringing a friend) and something that is currently in your wardrobe that is challenging for you or your absolute favorite piece in your wardrobe! We'll spend some time chatting as a group, where you will learn a lot of style tips, and then I'll spend time with you individually to give you advice that is specific to you!

Yesterday, I figured out what I'm wearing for Saturday (I think... I might change my mind again... I need to look great for you guys!). Tonight, I ordered the food and printed my gift certificates! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you already got the sneak peek for my gift certificates. If you haven't seen them yet, here they are!

So cute, right? I think so!

Even if you cannot attend the party, you can purchase gift certificates at any time! Check out the Packages and Services page for more information!

If you did not yet RSVP for the party, make sure that you do! Thanks!! See you on Saturday!

#girlboss(es) 14 - Donna O'Brien

Happy Friday! Today's post features, Donna O'Brien! I first met Donna 9 years ago, when my sister, Sara scheduled an appointment with her to discuss the flowers for her wedding. Sara had done her research and knew that Donna and her team at Beautiful Blooms could create the vision she had for her wedding. At the time that Sara was planning her wedding, whenever you opened a Philly wedding magazine, you would see Donna's work. Her floral arrangements really redefined wedding/event flowers. Her work was unique and innovative, without ever recreating a look, but you always knew it was Beautiful Blooms. In addition to being brilliantly creative, Donna is such a sweetheart herself. She is someone that you want to be your friend. Because of all of those reasons and more, I had to work with Donna for my own wedding, and of course, I love how everything turned out!

This is one of the pictures from our wedding ceremony flowers. Gorgeous, right?

Since then, Donna has changed her career path (as most of us do at one point or another), and she was kind enough to share her story with me (and my readers)! Thanks again, Donna!

Holiday Photo Shoot Opportunity

Hi All! It's that time of year when the Christmas decorations have already been set up in stores, and you're either bursting with excitement or starting to stress. Well, I have a fun way to kick off the season for you!

Remember those gorgeous pictures that I posted recently (in case you missed it, here it is) with photographer, Mark Morris? We are working together to provide you with the most perfect pictures for your holiday cards this year. We will be doing photo shoots with our scheduled clients on Saturday, November 19th (before my style party) and Saturday, December 3rd. I will be on site both days making sure that you and your family continue to look flawless, so you don't have to worry about loving everything about a picture except your hair is doing something weird, or your husband's shirt is partially untucked, or you didn't realize that the green shirts you picked out for you and your kids completely clashed with the background of the picture, etc. I'll take care of all of that, and Mark will create the gorgeous pictures. We make a pretty darn good team.

Here are the details and what's included:
  • A pre-session meeting with me, either in your home or at a shopping location that the we coordinate.  This session will be approximately 2 hours and be spent coordinating just the perfect look for your family or you and that special someone.
  • I will be available at both of the photo shoots on November 19th, as well as December 3rd, to help style the shoot.
  • Your photo session with Mark will be approximately one hour in length.  Location is flexible based upon the desired look of our clients, but we have made arrangements with a Christmas Tree farm as a preliminary idea for these sessions.
  • 25 cards and envelopes are included with the session.  They will take approximately one week from the date of the session for delivery.
  • Hot chocolate or Hot Apple Cider will be provided as long as our choice of location permits it!
  • All-inclusive pricing, $499.00
  • A strict limit of five client sessions per each date.
  • Contact Mark (or me) with any questions, or to set up your session!
Are you excited, because I'm excited! Schedule soon! I mean, how cute are these?

Shop Sixty Five

I have finally found the jacket that I have been searching for! I knew the wait was worth it, and I am in love. The jacket is by IRO jeans, and it is definitely the coolest thing in my wardrobe.

#girlboss(es) redefined 4 - Vikki

Happy Friday!! This week's Fabulous Female Friday features another amazing lady that I met in college, Vikki Bell! I met Vikki through my husband, because she was a fellow percussionist. One of my all time favorite Vikki quotes is "Life is too short to do the things you don't want to do." That quote is circa 2006, so this was WAY before any of that YOLO nonsense. She is someone I can rely on for honest, genuine advice, and she was one of the first people to really support me, when I decided to pursue my styling business! Love you, Vik!!

#girlboss(es) redefined 3 - Kate Michalowski

Happy Friday! Today's Fabulous Female Friday features one of my closest friends, Kate! In one of my past posts, we got to read about Kate's mom, Jeanne! Now, we get to hear about Kate! Kate and I met in college, and while we got along right away, I think I might have scared her at first? When I first met Kate, she was much more reserved, and I think I was less so than I am now, which made an interesting combination, especially when we traveled with a youth orchestra to Ireland together (and roomed together for 10 days). Despite my craziness, Kate still wanted (and wants) to be my friend, and I value every minute of it!

Early Holiday Shoot

Today, I had the pleasure of working with photographer, Mark Morris! Not only did I get to shoot with him, but my guys did too! Mark reached out to me to have me style a shoot to use for a project that we are collaborating on (details will come soon, I promise), and I eagerly accepted! (Fun fact about Mark - he was actually one of my high school band directors, and now he's still teaching music, but he's also a professional photographer!)

So, I love Fall. My husband's birthday is in Fall, as is our son's, and my own, and it's always been my favorite time of year. I am definitely not one of those people that gets their Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving. I am usually late to start decorating my house for the holidays as well (however we're early this year with our Christmas tree...mainly because we never took it down last year. We went from being embarrassingly late to early, so I went with it.)

All of that being said, for today's shoot, we took a lot of fun pictures in center city, Philadelphia, and I styled our outfits for a winter/Christmas vibe. I promise I'll explain why later!

Kristen Fiori did my hair and makeup for my shoot! I wanted something special compared to what I normally do myself, and she was wonderful! She helped me out in my very last minute request, and I love it! My amazing assistant, Marianne gave me Kristen's contact information. Everyone needs an assistant as great as mine!

Can we take a minute to talk about how handsome both of my guys look? Little Tony is wearing clothes from Old Navy, Carters, and Osh Kosh. Tony is wearing Jcrew, American Eagle, and his AMAZING shoes are from DSW. My dress is from Anthropologie several years ago.
I love how Mark captured us and our little man's personality! Our little guy has started to become shy around new people now that he's two, but he took to Mark right away, and that really helped all three of us have a great time!

#girlboss(es) redefined 2 - Mandy

Happy Friday! This week's Fabulous Female Friday features one of my best friends, Mandy Johnson. My path first crossed with Mandy's when I was student teaching. Mandy was a first year teacher at the school where I was student teaching, and I think that the two of us were both too frazzled to realize how much we had in common! Thankfully, I ended up working at that school, a year after I graduated, and Mandy and I have been family ever since! Mandy and I know that the best ways to cheer each other up usually involve something sweet and delicious and/or a picture or video of adorable animals.

There's something to be said about a great coat

Just like the title of this post says, there's definitely something to be said about a great coat. In some of my previous posts, I've talked about the importance of completer pieces for an outfit, like a great pair of glassesamazing shoes, and accessories. You can completely change the look of an outfit just by adding the right pieces. Now that Fall is here (or is it?), I invested in a beautiful Ted Baker coat. If you are not familiar with Ted Baker, you need to change that immediately. However beautiful you think their garments are while viewing them online, they're even more incredible in person.

This morning, Nater and I went to Philly again to take some photos with some delicate morning glories and fun street art (you know how much we love some good street art/graffiti - both the dress alternative and mixing patterns feature it too).

#girlboss(es) redefined - mom

Happy Friday! I am still continuing with my Fabulous Female Friday posts, but now we're expanding on a slightly different trend. As you can see, the title of this post (and the posts that will follow it) is titled, "#girlboss(es) redefined". These posts are meant to feature the strong women in my life that may not be a boss by the traditional meaning, but they are certainly bosses in the sense that they are strong, motivating, empowering, incredible people that deserved to be talked about and shown off! My job with these posts continues to be difficult, because I want you, the reader, to understand just how awesome these women are, and I hope to do them justice with my posts!

Style Party!!

Hi Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome back, if you've visited before, or welcome if you are new to my blog!

I am offering a new service to new and current clients! This service is different than anything else that I offer, because it's the first service that is actually a group event! I'm calling it the Style Party!

The Style Party is a fun, social event (with food and beverages) that allows you and your friends to learn about your clothing choices. At the style party, you'll learn more about mixing patterns (this is super helpful for guys especially, so that you know how to wear your ties with patterned shirts), how to achieve that ideal balance of color, pattern, texture, and shine, and how to choose your best colors. I'll answer any questions that you have! You'll learn things like why your favorite item of clothing is your favorite, or why you struggle with something that you bought, and can't figure out how to wear it! Bring some of your clothes with you, if you want, so we can talk about them together!

AND....there's no pressure to buy anything! YAY! Everyone can exhale now.

The Style Party costs $20 to attend, but if you book any of my services at the party, your $20 goes towards the cost of your service!

AND (yes there's another AND) if you share this post on Facebook and comment on my original post (so I can make sure that I don't miss any shares), you will be part of my October giveaway that will put you in the running to attend my first Style Party for FREE! Woo!

So, start sharing and commenting! I cannot wait to have you over! The rest of the information for the Style Party is on my Facebook page

Also, let me know if you are interested in hosting a Style Party at your home!

Advanced Pattern Mixing

If you already follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you saw the gorgeous pic of my "assistant", Marianne! Mar and I are asked almost on a daily basis if we're sisters, because of how much we look alike.

Who wouldn't want to be mistaken for this lady's sister? I'm honored!

#girlboss(es) 13 - Andrea Pagan

Happy Friday! This week's #girlboss Fabulous Female Friday features my good friend, Drea! Drea is such a fun and sweet person, and when I think of strong, amazing moms, she is absolutely on my list! Her husband and my husband have been friends since high school, so it's always fun when we all get together (plus the kids are SO adorable). I'll let her tell her own story, since she tells it so well!

Exciting (style related) News!

If you already follow me on Facebook or Instagram, then you already heard the news, but if you don't, MY PHOTOGRAPHER, NATER AND I GOT PUBLISHED! My article and his pictures are in the Autumn issue of Philly Streats (click the link and go to pages 11-13 for my article). Philly Streats is a relatively new online publication that features articles about fashion, music, food, art, and all of the other fun things that Philly has to offer! They publish quarterly for now, and I'm honored to be part of their magazine!

I need to give a quick shout out/thank you to my friend, Lynne Kaspin for putting me in touch with the awesome ladies of Philly Streats. Lynne has been a friend of mine for six years now. She knew that I had been working as a stylist, and thought that I would enjoy contributing to her daughter-in-law's new magazine. Lynne gave me her daughter-in-law's email address, and after a lot of correspondence back and forth with the style editor, here we are! Thanks again, Lynne!

Please visit the actual site for Philly Streats and read the full issue, but in the meantime, here are some screen shots of my article!!

Elevated Weekend Look

On cold rainy days, some people fantasize about wearing a cozy hoodie on the weekend. For me, I have been dying to wear this off the shoulder Sophiya top from Club Monaco. It feels as cozy as the softest hoodie that I've ever owned, but it's chic details make it look like I'm putting so much more effort into my appearance than I feel!

I decided to dress up this top even more by pairing it with the Betia straight leg pants (also from Club Monaco) and pointed toe patent leather Michael Kors pumps.

#girlboss(es) 12 - Jeanne Alusik

Happy Friday!! I have to say that I am so thrilled that not only do my friends and family want to participate in my #girlboss(es) Fabulous Female Friday posts, but their friends and family are willing to participate too! This week, I am featuring one of my best friend's moms! Kate herself, will  be featured in a post later, but for now you get to read about her impressive mom, Jeanne!

The dress alternative

Hi again!

I apologize for not having a style post in a little while! Life has been a little hectic, but I think it's starting to settle.

I have been working with a lot of clients lately who have been looking to purchase outfits for special events. My female clients are always looking for dresses. If it's business casual or fancier, they want a dress. There's nothing wrong with that, trust me, I LOVE dresses! However, ladies, you do have another option!

A few weeks ago, I went shopping at the King of Prussia Mall with my mom, and we went to Club Monaco. The clothes there are impeccably made with fabrics that feel exquisite. You will encounter a somewhat higher price tag as a result, but if you're looking for something special and classic, this should be your destination.

I got a few pieces when we went shopping, but my absolute favorite is the Lenera jumpsuit. I think it's now my favorite piece in my wardrobe (aside from my wedding dress). I decided to pair it with my new Michael Kors heels, that I featured in this post. Aside from my gold cuff, I didn't wear any other jewelry, because the jumpsuit is a beautiful statement on its own. This jumpsuit can easily be worn at any occasion or event where you would normally opt for a dress. Dresses are great, but sometimes a stunning jumpsuit can create a bigger impact. Just something to think about!

I am also wearing my brand new Styles for Miles sunnies that we picked out at MAGIC! They are so glam and fabulous. I plan on wearing them with basically everything.

Stay tuned, because my photographer, Nater and I are going to be published!! More on that later!

#girlboss(es) 11 - Mrs. Maria Hahn

Happy Fabulous Female Friday, everyone! This week's #girlboss post features someone who I am honored to be related to! She's my mom's older sister, my Aunt Maria! Both my mom (who you will hopefully be reading about soon!) and my Aunt Maria have been and continue to be such great strong role models. I am thankful that they share their experiences with me, and encourage me push myself!

#girlboss(es) 10 - Mrs. Marielle Wolf

Happy Fabulous Female Friday!! We are at fabulous #10! Our 10th #girlboss is someone that I met over 10 years ago (13 or 14 years ago, I think?)! Her name is Marielle Wolf, although most people call her Melle!

I met Melle at my very first job, which was at a spa! I had been working at the spa for a few months, before Melle joined me, working at the front desk. I remember being intimidated by Melle at first, because she was a little bit older than me, and came to a similar job to me but with much more experience. That feeling maybe lasted the first day that we worked together, and ended by the second day, because I remember being good friends with her pretty early on.

I am very thankful for Melle, and her patience with me. I was 17 when I was working at that job, and everyone at the spa called me, "Baby Girl", because compared to all of the adult women that worked there, I was. She always treated me as an equal, and with a tremendous amount of respect, and I'm not quite sure I really deserved that. Melle was also one of the first adults, outside of my family, to acknowledge my appreciation for style, and she allowed me to take her shopping! So, I think it's safe to say that Melle was actually one of my first clients!

Mrs. Marielle Wolf, Director of Sales

My official title is Director of Sales at the Lambertville Station Restaurant and Inn. I do all the sales for the Riverside Ballroom which can accomodate up to 200 guests. I have been with the company for 9 years.  I plan and coordinate any social event on property between 75 - 200 guests.  The majority of my clientele is weddings but I also coordinate other events such as rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, enagaement parties and corporate banquets to name a few. I work with a maitre d' who executes the coordinated plan the day of the wedding and a full staff that takes care of the guests once the big day arrives.

I started out when the ballroom only held 150 guests. I have been through a few construction changes at the Inn in my 9 years.  The last one being the ballroom expansion that added a new open air ceremony space and a cocktail hour room that sits right on the banks of the Delaware River, but, the most impressive addition is the new Riverview Suite (bridal suite) that is where the couple retires for the evening, the only hotel room on property that overlooks the Delaware River.

1.   What would you list as your best quality?
I like to try and understand what my client is looking for as the big picture and help them obtain that through their theme.  I just like working with people from all walks of life and coming up with new and creative ideas for them to help bring their ideas to life. Thinking outside of the box.

2.   When do you feel your strongest?
When the stars align!! I honestly don't think there is one thing that makes me feel stronger, but seeing a bride in her wedding dress smiling and crying when she sees everything put together and I had a hand in that, that is a great feeling.

3.     On your most difficult days, what keeps you going?
Besides coffee, knowing it can all be done if I just take a breath and step back and look at it from another point of view and then start at the beginning and push through, i know it is all going to get done.

4.     What do you value the most in yourself and your family?
My family comes first, my 2 boys are the light of my life.  Being able to still be a soocer mom and a full time planner is a balance I am still working on perfecting, but its fun.  I appreciate my kids more after a long day at work or a busy day, I value my work ethic as well. I am a firm believer that if you put your mind to it you can do anything, and there are no excuses, do the job you are supposed to do, do it as best you can and keep learning something new every day. And when you are home, be home, be the mom, be the one they look up and see on the sidelines routing them on.  I do get work calls at home from time to time but knowing that is always possible, gives me more of a reason to focus on them (the boys) when I am home and focus on work when I am at work.

5.     So far, what have been your greatest accomplishment(s) in your career?
Not messing up the math on contracts and final bills!!! LOL. In all seriousness, my greatest accomplishment is just being in the position I am in.  It is not an easy field to land in to so the fact that I am actually doing something I have wanted to do since I was 9 years old is a dream come true and my greatest accomplishment.

6.     What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don't hold back, be fun and wild and crazy, don't be afraid of crowds and speaking in front of other people, go with your creative side, be friendly and outgoing and confident in who you are, don't be afraid of what others think or say, just be you.

7.   What do you look forward to the most?
Sleep, seeing the bride in her dress, seeing the couple when they come out of the ceremony, or when they are just about to leave to go to the ceremony.  I look forward to the planning time I have with the couple as well and just getting to know them as a couple. There isnt just one thing I look forward to obviously.  Seeing the dress, the flowers, the rings, its all so exciting every week something new.

8.  What has been your biggest failure, and how have you overcome it? I have had many that I have learned from. I was and am still very sensitive when it comes to my work, I gave grown a thicker skin a bit, but any mistake whether the couple sees it or its just something in the background, I take personally and try and learn and strengthen myself from it, I am the face that everyone sees and deals with so if anything goes wrong, its me they come to to complain, that is never easy hearing someone was disappointed on their big day.

#girlboss(es) 9 - Mrs. Crystle Skinner

Happy Friday, everyone! We did it! We made it to the weekend! This week's #girlboss features someone who is technically my boss, Crystle Skinner! I am so honored that Crystle approached me to work as a stylist and style consultant for her new business, Styles for Miles, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us! She is kind, strong, driven, and funny, so obviously, everyone loves her, because how can you not? When Crystle and I talk business, we both get excited about how things are going to progress, and I think that's just one of the many qualities that make her a great boss.

Styles for Miles (and Crystle) will also be at the Lavallette Founders Day, TOMORROW, September 10th from 11am-5pm! This is a great way to check out her clothes and accessories in person!

Crystle wrote her own great introduction of how we met, so I'll let her words do the rest of the talking!

Shoes!

Oh my goodness, Fall and Winter colors are here, and they are GORGEOUS! I went shoe shopping (a couple of times) in the past week, and I had to control myself from buying every pair of beautiful shoes in plum or gray. There are just so many options now!

The best part? There are options in leather and suede!!
I died. I literally died. (hopefully you said that in your best Rachel Zoe voice)

Peep toe, cut out, black suede booties with the cutest bows I've ever seen on the back. They are Michael Kors

My next new addition is a little different for me. I don't always love an ankle strap, but the heel, color, and details with this pair made them another "must have". Again, they are Michael Kors.

I mean, just look at that gold detailing above the heel. Just gorgeous.

And because I love the color so much, I got these too (I also got them in black, because they're beautiful and comfortable! Definitely perfect for work!)

These Marc Fisher flats come in the BEST colors! I will be wearing these like crazy all Fall!

These Kelly&Katie peep toe booties are such a nice way to make that transition from summer to fall that much better. The faux suede with the wooden stacked heel is like an iced pumpkin spiced latte - comforting but still refreshing.

Ok, so in non shoe related news, I have to share with you two exciting things!
First - I am officially registered for an online course through FIT! I cannot wait!! Since, I am still working full time, and I want to be able to spend time with my little man and my husband, I only registered for one class, but I am really looking forward to learning even more about image consulting!
Second - STACY LONDON LIKED MY FACEBOOK POST!!!! AHHHHH!! Ok, if we're friends on Facebook, you heard about that already, but still STACY LONDON  LIKED MY FACEBOOK POST!! I know that doesn't mean much, but what it does mean is that before I tagged her in my post, in which I shared her latest article through refinery29 (you should read it!), she had no idea that I existed, and since she liked my post, she now knows that there is a "Susan Padron, Personal Stylist" out there and that I have a lot of respect for her!

#girlboss(es) 8 - Ms. Emily Knauss

Happy Friday, everyone! I'm sure that you have lots of fun plans for the long weekend, and hopefully this tropical storm won't affect them! This week's #girlboss features Emily Knauss, as our Fabulous Female Friday!

Emily (Em) is the younger sister of one of my best friends (and my photographer), Nate (Nater) Knauss! In the Knauss family, Emily is the only girl with five brothers, with our Nater being the oldest of the siblings. Emily has always been close with Nate, so when I met Nate shortly after meeting my now husband (12 years ago), I quickly got to know Emily too! Em is such a kind, thoughtful, caring person, and I love having her (and her fiancé) in our lives!

#girlboss(es) 7 - Mrs. Erika Labbe

Woo! It's Friday, which means that it's the weekend! More importantly here, it means, Fabulous Female Friday!

Today, I am featuring, Mrs. Erika Labbe! Erika and I met by the brilliance that is Clark University's roommate pairing questionnaire, back in 2004 (has it really been that long??). I always felt so lucky to have Erika as a roommate, because you hear all kinds of "horror" stories about college roommates. Honestly, the only time that Erika and I "fought" in the year and a half that we lived together was during the 2005 Super Bowl when the Eagles (my home team) played (and lost) against the Patriots (Erika's a New Englander, so of course, she was rooting for the Pats...so was everyone else at Clark). It wasn't so much that we were fighting, but there was definitely some tension haha.

My First Trip to MAGIC

This was my first time going to Las Vegas, and I can honestly say that I did not indulge in any of the typical debauchery activities that the city offers.  I feel that’s important to mention, because I want you to know that what I felt while I was there was truly genuine and not influenced by the bright lights and buzz of the city.

#girlboss(es) 6 - Ms. Samantha Atzeni

Hi Everyone, and happy Friday (FriYAY!)!

My Fabulous Female Friday post this week features the absolutely brilliant, Ms. Samantha Atzeni. I met Samantha in college through mutual friends. Whenever these mutual friends would have a get together, we would both attend, and we would usually end up talking and having a great time together!

#girlboss(es) 5 - Mrs. Courtney Lawrence

Happy Fabulous Female Friday!! We're already at our fifth fabulous female! Are you excited? I know I am!

Our fifth #girlboss is a friend and coworker of mine, Mrs. Courtney Lawrence! I was fortunate enough to meet Courtney, when I started working at Grice Middle School in 2013! We didn't get to talk a lot that first year, but every interaction I had with her, no matter how brief, was always so nice! My second year at Grice, we had our morning duty together (before I went on maternity leave), and we chatted every day! Courtney has this energy about her that is so refreshing. She is seriously a ray of sunshine to any room she walks into, and she is a total sweetheart to anyone that comes into her life. Not only is she sweet, but she is so strong (emotionally and physically - I mean, forget "Michelle Obama Arms", let's talk about "Courtney Lawrence Arms" #goals).

OBX Pictures

Every year for the past twenty-something years, my family has gone to the Outer Banks in North Carolina for our summer vacation. Only in the past 8 years though, did we have momentous occasions where we wanted to get professional pictures taken on the beach! This tradition started 8 years ago, when my sister got engaged. What started out as an engagement photoshoot, turned into a photoshoot for all of us!

#girlboss(es) 4 - Mrs. Adriana Moore

Happy Friday! Happy weekend! Our Fabulous Female Friday this week is Mrs. Adriana Moore!

Adriana is one of my wonderful coworkers at Grice Middle School! Her students and coworkers have such a tremendous amount of respect for her, it's really inspiring to see! In addition to being a teacher, a wife, and a mom, Adriana is also a Beachbody coach! Her story below explains how she does it all!

Time for a hair change - the American Wave

Hi all! Today is the day that I decided to change up my look! I have always considered my hair just another accessory, so I have never had a problem with cutting or coloring my hair, because it'll grow. My hair is thick and grows fast, so even if I didn't love a particular hair style, I knew my hair would grow quickly, and I could change it in a couple of months.

Shopping with Vinny!

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of shopping with my good friend, Vinny who was one of my winners of my first giveaway (don't worry, there will be other giveaways, if you missed the first one!)! We started the day with a closet makeover, where Vinny and I went through his closet together and got rid of the clothes that weren't the right fit or style, or that were showing too many signs of wear and needed to go.

#girlboss(es) 3 - Ms. Kimberly O'Hare

It's Fabulous Female Friday again!!

Woo! Happy Friday, everyone!

I hope you have fun weekend plans... and that they involve reading my blog... thinking about when you'd like to go shopping with me... and/or have me go through your closet with you!

Anyway, this post features another one of my closest friends, Ms. Kimberly O'Hare. Kim and I met in college, after I transferred to The College of New Jersey. She is by far one of the best musicians I have ever had the pleasure of performing with, and I am always honored when she asks for my opinion regarding her playing. With some of my girl friends, we like to use the term "broad" to refer to each other... and by refer to each other, I mean, they put up with me referring to them as a broad (tough broad, classy broad, etc.) Kim is definitely a "tough broad", and that's one of the many things I love about her.

Heat Wave!

When it seems like the entire country is experiencing a heat wave, it's important to stay cool (and look cool). A lightweight dress like this one allows you to feel a breeze (if there is one!), rather than wearing something that fits closer to the body.

Salt & Stone

When we went to Kennett Square, PA, we came across this adorable store, called "Salt & Stone" (I just realized now that I think I have a thing for places called "Salt & ______", considering my favorite ice cream is from Salt & Straw).

Winners for the Free Session!

I already posted this on Facebook, but just in case it doesn't show up in your feed, and you're dying to know who won... the winners are... Melissa Hooper and Vincent Johnson!! Congratulations, guys! I cannot wait to set up a date for our session! I will post pictures of how amazing they look in a blog post here, so that you all can see how much fun we had!

If any of you would still like to schedule a "not makeover, makeover", message me!! It's $50/hour, and most sessions are only a few hours. We'll go shopping together. I'll help you pick out outfits that you feel incredible in and are practical for your lifestyle. We'll pick out accessories and shoes to complete your outfit. Then, for my ladies, we will have some fun with a little hair and makeup! I'll have you get dressed in your favorite new outfit, and we'll take some pictures!

The whole time we're together, I will be teaching you about why things work (in regard to fashion/style). We'll talk about all the different ways you can wear your new pieces, and pair them with your current wardrobe.

We will have fun together (I promise), and my current clients can attest to that!

Congrats again, Melissa and Vinny! The rest of you, I hope to hear from you all soon! Enjoy your weekend!!

#girlboss(es) 2 - Ms. Alicia Padron

It's Friday! Yay! I am so excited to feature my sister in-law for my second "Fabulous Female Friday" post! If you liked my Facebook page, then you have been lucky enough to see Alicia's gorgeous face, whenever someone shared the post for the free session!

Kennett Square!

Today, my husband, Tony and I got to explore Kennett Square, PA! We started our afternoon by having a glorious lunch at Talula's Table. We shared mushroom risotto, mushroom mac and cheese, and a soba noodle salad. Holy cow, the mac and cheese was so good!

The not makeover, makeover

The term "makeover" always sounds a little extreme with a hint of excitement and a bit of fear. A makeover gives us visions of different TV shows that we may have seen where an outdated kitchen gets completely gutted and redone with a new open feel, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and brand new cabinets. The word "makeover" implies that whatever is getting "made over", was pretty awful to start and was in desperate need of improvement.

That's why I'm not using the term, "makeover" to describe how I help my clients. I won't completely change you, because most of you don't need a dramatic change. Even when I work with my clients in a "closet makeover", they will all tell you that it does not involve me going through your closet and throwing everything away (not even close). I am always honest, so I will tell you when something looks amazing on you, and when it's time to get rid of something, because it's not doing anything for you.

#girlboss(es) - Dr. Patricia Sullivan

#girlboss #lifegoals

For me, it's more like #girlboss = #lifegoals. I never thought that I would ever write a sentence with that many hashtags in it, but in this situation, it seemed fitting.

I have always been incredibly fortunate to have so many amazing female role models in my life (my mom and my sister especially). In these #girlboss posts that I will be sharing with you every Friday for "Fabulous Female Friday", I am focusing on those women, who are their own bosses or working to become a boss in their field.

Summer Style Post Surgery!

I went shopping with my mom this week at Anthropologie, and thanks to her, I found this super soft chambray romper! Just like dresses and jumpsuits, rompers are a perfect, easy, summer "go to". The "one piece factor" can be so helpful, when you're trying to get dressed quickly and get out the door, but still look stylish!

Susan's Featured Favorites ... for now

While I am shopping for clients, I will inevitably come across some pieces that would work for so many people, that it's hard for me to decide who to tell about it! I decided that occasionally I will do a blog post as a "Susan's Featured Favorites" post. Enjoy, and let me know if you'd like me to add any of these pieces to your next purchase!

Summer Sales Mean Summer Shopping!

If you already follow me on Instagram, then you know I'm pretty much couch bound due to a recent knee surgery. But, that means that I get to spend even more time focusing on finding the perfect outfits and accessories for you! Now is the perfect time to shop, because literally everywhere is having some kind of awesome sale leading up to the 4th of July!!

Festival and Summer Style

Happy Summer!! This weekend, I attended the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware. It was my second time - my first being two years ago. As a musician, this festival is awesome. It's four days of constant music of varying genres in (usually) gorgeous summer weather. It's the perfect way to kick off the season. As a stylist, it's a fascinating exhibition of fashion choices.

The choices can be broken down into a few different, distinct categories (Yay! A bolded list! Who doesn't love a bolded list!)

Men!

Hi guys!!

Sorry it's been all about the ladies, lately! You have been on my mind! Some of my awesome male clients have been sending me pictures lately of their outfits that they have selected (pending my approval, of course) for work or for an event!

Here, one of my male clients is wearing a light pink shirt, a navy with white polka dots tie, gray pants, a black belt, and black shoes. The navy and white polka dot tie gets a lot of mileage with so many outfits, because navy can be paired with so much! Navy works with black, it works with brown, it can be paired with cool or warm tones. It's just a great color. The polka dots are a classic print that add a little interest to an outfit without screaming "CHECK OUT MY TIE!! ISN'T IT LOUD?" Gentlemen, we need to talk about your tie collection, but I'll come back to that.

My new jumpsuit and getting out of your comfort zone!

Something that you'll notice when we talk style, is that I am always excited when a client is willing to go outside of their comfort zone. Don't worry, I will ease you slowly out of your comfort zone, so you won't be terrified. We'll meet and chat. We'll go through your current wardrobe, so that I can get acquainted with your current comfort zone, and then I'll teach you how to branch out!

In order to not be a hypocrite, I push myself out of my own comfort zone with my style constantly! One of my recent "pushes" was with a new pair of glasses! I think I have been wearing those round frames more than my usual "go to" black square frames.

Most recently, I purchased a jumpsuit for myself! The idea of the jumpsuit is not outside of my norm. I love one piece outfits - dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, etc. because they make assembling an outfit that much easier! You have one piece, add some shoes and accessories, and you're done! It doesn't get much easier than that.

This particular jumpsuit that I purchased (from anthropologie) has cropped palazzo pants. I'm 5'2", so normally cropped pants can be tough, and palazzo pants are usually a no no for my petite frame. (For those of you that don't know, palazzo pants are pants that have such a wide leg, that they give the illusion of a skirt. They are another trend that is making a comeback.) Anyway, despite the fact that I was worried about what I knew about those styles, I also know how trendy both styles are right now, and I figured that I would try it on.

Side bar rant: The worst thing that happens when you try something on is that you decide not to buy it, and you carry on living your life. Believe it or not, clothes do not have any negative power over you, especially when you try them on. Not everything is going to look amazing on you, and that's ok. Only wear what makes you feel great. (notice I said "great", not just "good", not "ok", definitely not "bad", and never just buy something ONLY because it's comfortable. If it's comfortable and makes you feel great, BUY IT! But if the only reason that you like something is because it's comfortable, it's not worth your money.)

Now, to my jumpsuit:

Why me!

Aside from fashion, some of my favorite obsessions include Hulu, a good Starbucks barista, and Birchbox. Don't get me wrong, I also love being active and working out...and food (I'm normally a healthy eater, but my diet can occasionally be described as "an unchaperoned five year old at a birthday party")... but there's a reason that I brought up Hulu, Starbucks, and Birchbox!

All three, Hulu, Starbucks, and Birchbox make an attempt to get to know me based on my interests that are related to their service! Hulu has recommendations based on shows it knows that I watch (thanks for "The Mindy Project" recommendation, Hulu!! Nice work!). A good Starbucks barista may suggest other highly caffeinated beverages based on my daily attendance... or they'll just confirm the order with me, so that my decaffeinated, zombie, early morning self doesn't have to attempt to speak prior to drinking my coffee. Birchbox sends me amazing beauty products, that I always love and are tailored to my beauty needs...of which there are many...and current trends, which I love to try!

I think it's fair to say that a lot of us can agree with the idea that we like it when people get to know our interests and then choose things for us. There's that exciting feeling of trying something new, but a comfort knowing that it might be something similar to things we already enjoy.

I'm sure that some of my female readers have tried or are currently using Stitch Fix. I don't mean to complain about their service, but it didn't work for me. I had a few successful pieces, which I have adopted into my wardrobe, but I never got the personal experience with my stylist that so many raved about. I didn't like that an algorithm helped choose my clothes. I also don't really like the idea that strangers were choosing my clothes.

In addition to or instead of using Stitch Fix, you may have relied on an employee of a favorite store to help you with your shopping. Now, this experience can be much more of a personal one. You can make sure that you only work with one person, and you can possibly get to know them over time. My dad, for example, before he retired, worked with a gentleman at Nordstrom every time he needed new clothes. But, when you use a store employee, you're limited to what that store carries. Of course, they can order things for you, but what if you want it now? What if you need it for an event the next day? Then, you have to go to another store(s), and you're already tired and feeling done with your shopping expedition.

That's where I come in!

I am fortunate to know some of you already, and I would like to get to know all of my readers! With me, you have options. Be exact or be vague. Event shopping, seasonal, or just because. In person or online. Approval before purchasing or "just surprise me". Tall, grande, or venti sized budgets (that's small, medium, or large (actually, it's 20 for 20oz of delicious coffee) for those of you who can go to Starbucks without everyone knowing your name).

There are no picky or difficult clients. When you're happy, I'm happy, and I'll keep shopping until you're smiling and stylish.

If I had a reality TV show, that would definitely be my tagline.

But seriously, if it's been a little while since you have spent quality time looking over your clothes, and you don't even know if you love what you see anymore, I'll come and help you! If you don't want to buy new clothes, and you just want ways to update your current selection, I can help with that too. If you want to completely change your style, add a different type of style or trend(s), that's all easy for me.

This is what I do. It's what I've always done, and I'm kind of awesome at it...just kidding, I'm totally awesome at it.

So, let's schedule some time to chat about you and your clothes!

Trends

Typically when I buy clothes, I like to invest in pieces that will be versatile and will last.

And other times, I buy trendy clothes from Forever21.

When it comes to trends, I almost always go for the inexpensive. The reason why I do that is because it's not worth it to spend a lot of money on something that will only be in style for a short amount of time.

That being said, participating in trends can be a lot of fun (no matter how old you are). If you're feeling self conscious about going for something trendy, pair it with more classic pieces or neutral colors.

I decided to embrace a lot of current trends today - choker necklace, black crop top, high waisted midi skirt, and white sneakers! So fun!

#whatwouldsusanstyle

I posted this on my Facebook page, but I know there are some readers who are not on Facebook, so I wanted to share it here as well! Sorry for the redundancy for my Facebook friends!

I absolutely love that my friends, family, and coworkers have been telling me that my blog posts inspire them to dress their best. It's fun for me to see how everyone interprets my suggestions to fit their personal style. You all have been looking incredible, and I want to start showing you off on my blog!

If you feel comfortable, please post on Facebook, twitter, or Instagram, or send me a picture of yourself in an outfit (or just your outfit) that you would consider as ‪#‎whatwouldsusanstyle‬. You can send or post as many as you'd like, just use the hashtag if you post it rather than send it.

Thanks in advance!!

Glasses

I treated myself to two new pairs of glasses, and I am so excited! I'm mostly looking forward to the fact that my vision is now being assisted appropriately, but the new frames are pretty amazing. I even planned my outfit around one of my new pairs. That's right. I chose my outfit around the glasses that I wanted to wear! I think a lot of us who wear glasses don't view them as part of our outfit, but they absolutely should be considered! All accessories help make an outfit.

I went out of my comfort zone with these round frames, and I am so glad that I did!

The sides (temples) of these Kate Spade glasses are to die for!
My sunglasses aren't new, but they're always my fav, and this red lipstick will make anyone feel like Taylor Swift.

The Great Outdoors

In one of my earlier posts, I talked about how to use a color wheel to figure out the best ways to incorporate different colors in your wardrobe. Especially now that it's Spring, I find myself getting a lot of color inspiration from outside!

I went to Longwood Gardens with my family, and the color combinations in the flowers were pretty spectacular. Consider the green in the grass and leaves as your neutral in this picture. (If you don't know what I mean by neutral, read this.)

This balance of yellow and purple would work for my gentlemen or my ladies!

I also came across this perfectly dressed guy in another weekend adventure, and his use of color is always on point!

Also, check out the texture in the wooden fence, the pattern in the wire fence, and the feathers. Envision your suit, blazer, pants, or skirt as the combination and color of the two fences, and your shirt or tie as the blue in the body of the peacock.
Perfection.
